UK Sanctions 4 Individuals and 7 Entities over Sudan's Illicit Gold and Finance Networks
The United Kingdom has added four individuals and seven entities to its Sudan sanctions list under the Sudan (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020. The new designations focus on the conflict gold trade, procurement networks, and financial facilitators that provide economic support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) or the Sudanese Armed Forces, and whose activities are considered a threat to the peace, stability, and security of Sudan.
All of the designated parties are Sudanese, but according to the UK authorities they operate internationally, with activity traced to the gold markets of Dubai and Hong Kong.
Among those listed are Abu Dharr Amhhed, sanctioned for channelling money and weapons to the RSF through his role in Capital Tap Holding LLC, and Mazin Gamareldin Mohamed Fadlalla, designated for providing support, financial services, and funding to the RSF via his positions in GSK Advanced Company, Tradive General Trading, and Al Jil Al Qadem General Trading.
The entity designations include Prodigious Real Estate Management Supervision Services, listed for making funds and economic resources available to activities threatening peace in Sudan through its links to Abu Dharr Amhhed, and Aoun Commercial Brokers LLC, identified as part of a network of companies connected to the RSF and providing it with financial services, funds, and economic resources.
The move follows a broader international push against Sudan's conflict gold economy and comes just days after the EU introduced sectoral sanctions on gold originating in Sudan. Businesses active in precious metals trading — particularly through Dubai and Hong Kong hubs — should update their screening lists accordingly.
