UK National Crime Agency Seeks Permanent Confiscation of $357,000 from Russia-Sanctioned Individual
The UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) has brought a civil forfeiture application at Westminster Magistrates' Court seeking the permanent confiscation of funds worth $357,000 held by UK-sanctioned individual Sergei Sergeevich Tregub. Civil forfeiture applications of this kind can be pursued where funds are suspected of representing the proceeds of crime or are intended for use in unlawful conduct.
Tregub was designated in 2023 under the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 for being "associated with" his father, Sergei Vadimovich Tregub — himself sanctioned for owning contractor business Velesstroy, which operated across Russia's strategically significant construction and energy sectors.
